Roads Hotel was built by Abraham Kauffman in 1893 for Newton and Clara Roads.
Roads Hotel was managed by Clara while her husband, Newton, traveled for work. The hotel was a busy place during late 1800s and early 1900s, but after the natural gas boom in Atlanta diminished, Clara had to become creative with keeping the doors open. Allegedly, the hotel became a brothel and speakeasy in those years following the natural gas boom.
We have three confirmed deaths in the hotel. Clara, Newton, and their son, Everett, all passed in the hotel. It is unclear where Everett's funeral was held, but Clara and Newton's funerals were held in the hotel.
The hotel is now owned by Crystal Couch. Her brother, Mike Couch, is the main tour guide for the hotel. He is supported by Gina, a paranormal investigator who has a long history with the hotel. Adam, also a fellow paranormal investigator, also assists with public investigations.
All funds collected for investigations, merchandise, and donations to the hotel are used for upkeep and renovations.
