We are always working on a project at the hotel. Sometimes these projects are small and not so noticeable and other times they are big projects like the recent roof repairs we had done. These repairs and updates would not be possible without your support.

Siding Replacement

Our next big project is replacing the siding. This section is currently covered to help prevent further damage, but as you can see, it needs replaced. We are replacing the wood siding with Hardie board siding to maintain the look of the hotel while ensuring the siding won't need to be replaced for years to come. Unfortunately, as with any project this size, it is quite costly.

Siding Replacement - Update

The image above is from this side of the building before the siding was replaced. The wood trim around some of the windows was also replaced due to damage, but we were mostly able to save what was there originally. Thanks to generous donations and guests investigating the hotel, we were able to have this work completed on the west side of the building this year (2023). We are hoping to continue to work our way around the building and have all the siding replaced in the next one to two years.

Porch Repairs

One of the most noticeable features of the hotel is the two story porch on the front of the building. The second floor of the porch is off limits due to the current shape of the wood flooring. The posts are also in need of repair. This will be another big project that will require more funds than we currently have as this will likely require the entire porch to be renovated.

Porch Repairs - Update

The porch is still a work in progress, but we wanted to share this updated picture. Both levels of the porch and the posts have been replaced. The railing will be painted white and the flooring will be stained. The front siding has also been replaced and painted. This work took longer than expected, so it has been in progress since the end of 2024. It will be completed this year (2026).

Attic Repairs

The attic has been off limits to groups since 2023 due to the state of the floor. It did have a layer of new boards on top of the original flooring you see in the picture to the right.

Attic Repairs - Update

We left the original boards seen in the picture above and placed this flooring over it. We have added walls for safety. Paneling is being placed now and we plan on the attic being open to groups again by October this year.
